EL Clothes to Dazzle and Impress

If you’re a raver, you would definitely know about EL clothing. Have you seen those shiny neon wires bordering the shirts and pants that most people wear at these electronic music concerts? It’s like… when the lights go off, their lights come on. People wear it to parties, too; if you have seen colorful lights flashing across the front of a t-shirt or a shirt or even a belt, consider that to be your first encounter with EL clothes. Your first impression of the shirt would be absolute awe. Yes, both of us know that they look so cool. EL stands for electro-luminescence; understanding the concept’s technicalities is not everybody’s cup of tea, but here goes. Electroluminescence can be defined as the property of a material by which it glows in response to the passage of an electric current or when you place it in an electric field. Simply put, it’s something like a bulb that you see in your house, except that it does not house a tungsten filament.

A scaled-up model of any piece of EL clothing would be the neon lights or the fluorescent lights in hoardings and store ingresses. This same concept has been incorporated in clothing for the pleasure of a class of people who appreciate the innovation and creativity that goes into the design. EL clothing can be any piece of cloth from a t-shirt or a shirt to trousers and even belts and caps. Nowadays, full-body clothing is available to people who desire it. What sets them apart from the crowd? If you have to ask to know why EL clothing is attractive, it just means that you have not seen these cool gadgets yet. They have different colored lights that flash – sometimes independently in a preset order and sometimes, even in tandem with the music played in the background. Haven’t you always wanted to enter a party and be noticed? Well, this is the key to your chest of desires. You can be sure that if you walk into parties with an EL-shirt on, heads are going to turn and look at you in pure awe.

Another reason why EL clothes are cool has to do with the new movie – Tron, making its way up to the top in the blockbuster list. If you have seen the movie, you would know that everybody is dressed in clothes with neon wires running all across the body. Several movies have sparked new ranges of clothing throughout history, which turned out to be extremely popular. In a reversal of events, Tron could actually set off a new revolution in EL clothes. What used to be famous about two decades back, like the tie-dye designs and global hyper-color, might be back in vogue in the form of EL clothing.

You might ask us who would want to be seen in illuminated clothing. We pose a counter-question to this, asking you who wouldn’t. Hundreds of thousands of people own at least one set of El clothes which they wear to parties. Regular party-goers, in other words, party animals seem to want to wear these shirts to turn heads; this is out of the ordinary, but agreeably so. Clubbers wear EL shirts and jackets when they are hanging out at clubs. The rave culture has come to be associated with oddities and anomalies, and EL clothing will gladly be accepted among ravers. It won’t be long before you find people displaying EL shirts at trance concerts. The EL shirts and belts are sure to impress kids and teenagers with their flashing lights and out-of-the-world designs. Speaking of designs, what do they offer? The common saying “Name it, and you got it” applies to EL clothes; any design you have in mind – weird, cool, funky, odd, or tribal, can be replicated on fabric with EL clothes. Generally, anything you need is already available as a pre-customized design – from flashing skulls and crossbones, equalizers, and rainbows to stars, alien heads, and beer bottles. However, if you have a design in mind, there are two ways to get it on the front of your shirt – either do-it-yourself or contact the manufacturer for the design. If the design is impressive and you order a specific number of shirts, the manufacturer will likely create the design for you.

The Do-It-Yourself kits are pretty impressive in the sense that you can purchase lengths of different colored neon cables and sew them on to your shirt in any shape you want. Typically, one meter of a neon cable costs you around $10 to $20. Though the idea might impress you, remember that you need to be something of an expert to get the design you want. If you want sound-enabled EL lights, the equipment with the sensors might cost you extra. You can design your own t-shirts, shirts, caps, belt buckles, hats, and beanies, while myriad designs are available with the manufacturers for each clothing type. The cheapest EL shirts could be somewhere in the range of $50 up to $200 or more, while caps and belts cost you far lesser. As is the case with every other product across the globe, Chinese EL clothes are the cheapest. A simple search for “cheap EL clothing” would vouch for the fact that you can’t get better deals than what China gives you on EL clothes.
