Waterproof flooring has become increasingly popular. It is waterproof, and at the same time, it is very easy to install since it comes in plank form. This combination of functionality, class, and convenience makes waterproof flooring materials ideal for many homes.

And because of the appeal of waterproof flooring, it is essential to know how to maintain it. Here is a brief guide to keeping it in your home.

Use the right cleaners.

The floors of our home are prone to stains and other accidental messes. If you use tiles for your flooring, bleach, basic detergent, and cloth would usually do the trick. For Firmfit flooring and other similar options, you will have to use specific types of cleaning agents.

Use lukewarm water and a non-abrasive cleaner for chocolate, grease, and juice stains. For cigarette burns, markers, crayons, lipstick, and other coloring products like nail polish and hair dye, you may use either denatured alcohol or nail polish remover. These cleaning agents are gentler than normal detergents and preserve the surface of your flooring.

Do not use rubber or latex materials.

Stylish homes use a lot of carpets, textiles, and other mats on the floor. For waterproof flooring, avoid using rubber or latex-based materials as they may cause damage to the floor’s surface. These kinds of rugs contain antioxidants, which may create a chemical reaction that can permanently stain your floor.

Clean water spills immediately

Although it is waterproof, the subfloor beneath the planks of your choice is not. Bevels and other microscopic slits between your waterproof planks may allow water to seep into the subfloor below. It is recommended to wipe off water spills, regardless of the amount, within 24 hours.

In the event of flooding, you may easily uninstall your waterproof plank flooring and dry it for at least 48 hours. You may reinstall after it has completely dried or after your subfloor has recovered entirely from the flood.

There is no need to wax.

Waterproof floors do not need wax. They maintain a shiny appearance unless under certain circumstances where they are always exposed to environmental stressors. Under average conditions, you can rest assured that there is no need to polish your floor.

Use a chair and other furniture protectors.

As mentioned above, avoid using latex- or rubber-based materials on your floor. Acceptable alternatives include non-pigmented hard plastic, felt, and other non-staining materials that your local hardware store may recommend. A metal chair protector may also be used, but make sure it is rustproof.

A beautiful home all year round

Waterproof flooring is perhaps the best invention in architecture: it is lightweight, easy to install and handle, and looks very luxurious. The best thing about it is that it may even be used on floors ceilings, and walls.

Taking steps to take care of it will lead to a long-lasting, dustproof, and waterproof home throughout the year, regardless of the season.
