You have enough packing to do when it comes to vacation, and always limited space (especially if you’re flying), so it takes a lot of work to determine what goes and what doesn’t. Plus, when it comes to vacation footwear, you really need to consider what your vacation plans entail.
You don’t want to get to your vacation destination to go on a hike and find that all your brought were running shoes. While a good pair of tennis shoes can be great for walking or playing a little ball, they aren’t going to keep you safe on a rough hike. Here are a few things to consider when it comes to vacation footwear.
Relaxing Or Moving?
Consider what you’ll be doing most on your vacation. If you’re simply intending on relaxing, taking a fitness break, and maybe just spending some time pool or ocean side, then you can skip on some of the shoes you’d need if you were going to be up and moving. You simply might want some swimming shoes, sandals, and a pair of comfy slippers.
You you plan on getting your jog in every morning, please don’t forget your running shoes. Your feet will thank you. Planning on doing a lot of shopping and exploring? At least remember to pack your walking shoes so that you can get through vacation with less foot pain.
If your vacation is going to be about getting out and having fun, you need to make sure you have appropriate shoes for this as well. While dressing up on your beach vacation could give your sandals extra work, since they’ll go good with your sundresses, you may want something more fancy if you’re going to be hitting the town for some nightlife or casino action.
Take some time to consider the dresses or dress clothing you’ll be taking with you, and what shoes would go best. You may also want to consider how much walking you’ll be doing. If you’re bar hopping across a few blocks, and walking it, you may want some flats rather than heels.
If you plan on getting your workout in while you are on vacation, make sure you take your appropriate shoes. Going on vacation in the hills? Pack your hiking boots.
If you’re staying at a hotel that has a gym, you at least want to take some basic tennis shoes with you so you have something sturdy on your feet when using the treadmill or elliptical machine.
You also want to consider weight of your packed shoes, especially when it comes to flying. Find some neutral dress shoes that can go with all of your dress clothes, instead of taking three pair of the same types of shoes. It will save you some time, and the extra effort to carry that heavy suitcase!
