If you’re into your first year of university or planning to start a course after the summer, then there are various things to think about – both regarding making the most of your studies and your social life. For many, going away to university is the first taste of real freedom. However, it’s important to remember that you need to keep a level head and focus on your end goals while also having fun! Study hard
Going to university doesn’t come cheap these days, and you shouldn’t think that your years away from home are just one big excuse to party all the time. .Eat well
Leaving the family home often means no more home-made meals made for you sat waiting on the table every evening. It’s down to you to do the grocery shopping, to plan what you’re going to eat each day. When you’re a student, you don’t want to be spending hours in the kitchen each day or spending a fortune. Think ahead and plan your meals. One idea is to bulk cook and freeze food in portions to have a longer supply of meals that you need to defrost and heat. You could also pool together resources with any housemates, sharing the cooking duties, or all cooking and eating together when you can. It really can be a sociable activity!
However, make sure you have a well-balanced diet. You don’t want to be eating microwave meals and chips every week, with no fresh fruit or veg!
Keep fit
As well as eating well, you need to keep yourself in good shape, especially if you like having a few drinks and then heading to the kebab shop. Regular exercise can be good for the body and the mind. So, think about how you can get active. It could be walking or riding your bike to lectures or joining a gym or fitness class.
