2. The White Marlin Open: Known as, among other things, the “White Marlin Capital of the World,” Ocean City hosts the. Every summer, avid fishermen and women from all over the world congregate on the eastern shore to fish the beautiful and elusive white marlin. This August, the 42nd Annual White Marlin Open’s grand-prize winner caught a 94-pound marlin, winning more than one million dollars in the process! In general, Ocean City is known for its delectable seafood cuisine, such as Maryland’s world-famous crabs.

3. Assateague Island: Assateague Island is a 37-mile long barrier Island off the coast of Ocean City. Host to both the Assateague Island National Seashore and the Assateague State Park, the island is well known for its feral horses, its gorgeous seashore campgrounds, and its plentiful canoeing and kayaking opportunities. Assateague (which means “a marshy place across”) is the perfect place to get away from it all but still enjoys all the amenities and activities Ocean City has to offer.
