Pinterest for Android gets better for groups

Pinterest for Android

Community scrapbookers, rejoice. Pinterest today improved the groups experience for its Android app users.

Launched in 2010, Pinterest is a collector’s refuge for saving fashion, decor, and recipe finds to digital scrapbooks called “boards.” The social-networking service, which ended 2012 with 27.2 million unique visitors, also allows likeminded types to save and share their discoveries together on group boards.

Now, the San Francisco-based company’s members on Android can update the application to pin more easily with others when mobile. Version 1.3 of the app gives users the option to accept or ignore group board invitations for the first time. It also includes a list of board contributors so people can see who they’re pinning with. These new group features are not yet available on iOS.

The incremental app update is a teeny-tiny announcement, though it does underscore a running theme for 2013 around continual little improvements. On Monday, Pinterest pushed out revamped versions of its iPhone and iPad apps. The company also recently started testing a new design of its Web site that makes the overall experience faster and ideally more fluid for pinners.

Pinterest version 1.3 for Android is available today in the Google Play store. The Kindle app store will get the groups-enhanced version in a few days, Pinterest said.
