Nexus 7 gets a small OTA update

Google has started rolling out what seems like a small update for its new Nexus 7 tablet. The build version JRO03D still runs Android 4.1.1, hinting us it’s a bug fixing release. The local search, which has been removed from Google Nexus, is still well and alive so don’t worry about it.

According to AndroidCentral, there are no visible changes except perhaps on the “About Tablet” screen, which now shows more data, including the FCC ID, IC and model number. It’s fair to guess this isn’t the only thing included in the new software but because we don’t have a change log, we can only speculate about other changes under the hood. In any case, we advise you to get the latest software the minute your Nexus 7 tells you to there’s a new firmware version waiting for download. It’s a good practice to have the latest software running at all times. Just make sure your battery is (almost) fully charged before tapping the “Update” button to have enough juice to complete the process…
