Rovio is keeping Angry Birds Star Wars game spoilers to a minimum. Today it released its second teaser trailer, but only revealed a tiny piece of the growing puzzle.
Extra Features Of Angry Birds
The trailer (below) reveals very little about the new game, offering a 25-second look at Han Solo’s cantina boast and hinting at a slingshot-equipped Millennium Falcon — “the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs” — puttering through a galaxy far, far away.
In the similarly themed first trailer, released last week, Rovio stitched together original Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope footage with an animated twist on the classic scene where the heroes approach the Death Star for the first time. But now, it’s sprouted a couple of ears, a snout, and beady green eyes.
Rovio is certainly keeping tight-lipped about the new game, letting few details slip before theStar Wars spinoff debuts on Nov. 8.
The game maker has promised eight total trailers, topped with a three-minute animated short expected for release closer to the game’s release date, according to Mashable. One more teaser featuring original film footage will hit the Web soon.
“People have said this will be the geek explosion of 2012,” Rovio vice president for franchise development, Ville Heijari, said during the Toys R Us product launch early this month.
The game, which currently focuses solely on the film series’ first movie, will feature iconic characters including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca with Darth Vader and his stormtrooper army —on the side of either the birds (good) or the pigs (evil).
An early animation featuring a cloaked bird holding a slingshot lightsaber was part of what Rovio marketing planner Philip Hickey called “an extended tease.”
