CES 2013

LAS VEGAS–Here at the CES Unveiled press event, HMDX, makers of the Jam Classic — one of the neatest Bluetooth speakers I’ve seen (I actually received one as a holiday gift) — revealed a line of new products to build on the momentum it gained in 2012.

First up is the Jam Plus, which is a step up from the Jam Classic. Just like its predecessor, the Jam Plus speaker works with Bluetooth-enabled devices up to 30 feet away and comes with a rechargeable battery that provides up to 4 hours of wireless play. As for sound quality, the Plus puts out comparable sound quality with the Classic, but it does offer slightly deeper bass because of its larger design. Its primary selling point, though, is its ability to pair with another Plus speaker for a two-channel stereo experience. When paired, either speaker can be designated left or right, or you can switch both to mono sound, in case you want an identical listening experience in, say, two different rooms. The Jam Plus is slated to be released in spring 2013 for $59.99.

If your listening purposes require even more power, HMDX has a bigger Bluetooth speaker on the way. The upcoming Jam Party offers the power of four speakers packaged in one compact speaker bar that’s about the size of a Jawbone Jambox. The Jam Party speaker bar is slated to be released in spring 2013 for $119.99.

If you’re interested in Bluetooth speakers, then definitely give HMDX’s products a look. They’re the only speakers I’ve seen that come packaged in glass jars, so they should be easy to spot.
