(GATE) Top institutes of India conduct graduate Aptitude Tests in Engineering, i.e., IITs and IISc, on a rotation basis. IIT Guwahati is conducting the GATE examination for the year 2018. Question1.What are the common reasons for rejecting the GATE Application form, and how can it be avoided?
Answer 1. Application forms can be rejected based on the following reasons– improper/ unclear uploading of photograph/ signature, swapping of a photograph with signatures or vice versa, errors in the submission of the application fee, wrong information provided by the application related to educational qualification/ personal information and documents not submitted properly/ all the documents not submitted. To avoid such errors, candidates must re-check/ preview all the information and avoid uploading unclear/ wrong information in the form.
Question 2. What errors can be corrected after submitting the GATE Application Form, and how can they be fixed?
Answer 2. However, there is a provision by which candidates can make a few amendments. However, some errors that cannot be corrected and based on these GATE application Forms can be rejected as per the rules for minor changes such as spelling mistakes in the applicant’s name or parent’s name; an email has to be sent to the zonal officer. But any major change will be sustained only with a document as proof. The category chosen, the gender of the applicant, and the examination city are a few of the fields that can be corrected later.

Multiple GATE Application Forms: If someone wishes to submit more than one application form, remember to use different email IDs. With one email ID, only one application form is accepted. Also note that in case of rejection of the form, the application fee will not be refunded.
Application fee: First, check the category and then pay the application fee. Only women and SC/ST/PWD category applicants must pay a reduced application fee. Due to this fact, candidates must upload the documents to support they belong to a specific category. But with an additional cost, this option can be edited later on.

GATE Papers: A ubiquitous question amongst applicants is how many papers must be applied for. You can choose only one piece from the 23 papers list. The article is selected based on a candidate’s last qualifying exam or what they want to study in the future. To gain clarity, you should check GATE’s information brochure and GATE’s official website, as it is not allowed to change the choice of paper later on.
GATE Test City: GATE Authorities can change the choice of cities’ preferences once selected by students. An applicant can be allotted a town from the option entered by them or a new one. Students can also send a request form changing theircity’s choice by submitting an additional fee as mentioned on the official website.
Application form as PDF file: After a candidate completes all steps in the application process. To convert the application form to PDF format, no further changes can be made to the application form.
Question 3. What will happen if the GATE Application form gets rejected? Also, what if I am no longer interested in appearing for GATE? Will my fee be refunded?
Answer 3. In case of rejection of the application form, from the registration with email id, all steps of the application process have to be repeated to reapply. No, your fee will not be refunded under any circumstances. Also, withdrawal of the application is not allowed.
What is the GATE Correction Form?
After submitting the application form, you can access the status by visiting the official website of GATE. Check the application form and all the information provided by you. In case of any discrepancy, two forms are available on the official website, ‘Error Correction Form’ and ‘Fee Correction Form.’
Those wishing to upload the correct signature, photograph, name, verified category certificate, and bank challan copy can mention the amendments in the Error correction form.
To correct the application fee paid, the Fee correction form has to be filled and submitted. The additional cost to be submitted is mentioned in the state for ease of students.
