If they seem only to have an interest in playing video games, perhaps you can try to spark their interest in the world of design.

Don’t Expect Them To Be Just Like You.

Children who believe that the only way to make their parents proud is to follow the career path they have chosen for them don’t have the same self-satisfaction as someone who chose their own direction with no one forcing them. It’s important to find a balance between gently influencing them and making them feel like they have no choice in the matter.

Find Them a Mentor

If your teen shows an interest in something you support but you have no expertise in, you may want to help show them the importance of having someone look up to as an example of where they want to be eventually.

A mentor isn’t only an inspiration but a credible and useful source for paving their way to success.
