Videocon follows Airtel, Vodafone and Idea in slashing 2G data rates

Videocon has followed the lead of other operators in slashing the 2G data tariff by 90 percent.

Videocon Mobile Services customers in Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be able to use pay-as-you-go 2G data at rates of 1 paisa per 10KB, compared to 10 paisa per 10KB applicable earlier. This new data tariff will be applicable from first week of July onwards.

Commenting on the tariff revision, Mr. Arvind Bali, Director and CEO, Videocon Mobile Services said, “Videocon Mobile Services is known to offer the best value-for-money products at a price which is nearly twenty-five percent lower than the market rate. Always at the forefront of consumer centric initiatives which are motivated towards total consumer benefit, the brand seeks to pass on the advantage of the data price revision across the dynamic telecom circles it is present in.”

Earlier, Airtel announced an identical 2G data tariff reduction, from 1 paisa per KB to 1 paisa per 10KB. Similarly, Idea declared a 90 percent reduction in 2G data tariff for pay-as-you-go plans, from 2 paisa per KB to 2 paisa per 10KB, and Vodafone announced a 80 percent reduction in 2G data tariff. Vodafone’s new tariff is 2 paisa per 10KB, compared to 10 paisa per 10 KB earlier.

Interestingly, the reductions in tariff from all operators is applicable in select circles only, in a bid to increase data usage in these regions.

“This 90% tariff reduction will help increase data penetration across segments, which will translate into stronger benefits for the brand and will help us engage more subscribers in coming times,” Bali concluded.

  1. i’ve an ipod device touch 1G (i first got it once the 1G was the only person around). but among the finest to read your comments….. can you like the 1G or even the 2G? and why? lastly, how can i obtain a 2G free of charge?? thx for that help

  2. Tommie Gwalthney

what’s the distinction between 2G and 3rd generation? could it be practically only greater speed or you will find other variations too?

  3. I have found two great phones through the names of Htc Desire Mobile Phone HD and LG Optimus 2X. The Need HD continues to be declined through the FCC for United States 3rd generation. The Optimus 2X could easily get left by FCC too, but is probably coming here (in March). Since I am on T-Mobile, the 2 nobleman, G2 and myTouch ARE BORING!!! Same with the Nexus S! I would like something better, and that i eventually found the GalaxyS 4G, which I’m not a GalaxyS fan. Partner 4G is perfect for texting, that we avoid. I want speed, stability, and style. So, because the Desire HD and also the Optimus 2X are only able to focus on T-Mobile 2G, what exactly are the pros and cons? The 2 phones are super-fast and also have great design, and so i doubt the web will be a large problem.

    How are 3rd generation better?

May be the Desire HD or Optimus 2X on the 2G network worthwhile?

If that’s the case, which is much better?

Must I just wait for new super-awesome phone such as the HTC Pyramid?

OK I’m asking 4 questions, but help because I have to customize the phone since my Google Android Nexus One is virtually outdated.
