Coolpad quad-core Spice Coolpad MI-515 for Rs 9,990
Spice Mobility has launched the new Spice Coolpad MI-515 smartphone for Rs 9,990. The launch comes a day after the company said that it would be bringing Android Nation stores to India, in association with Google. It had also stated that Spice will be introducing one of the top smartphone makers in China, Coolpad, to the Indian market. The MI-515 is the first in the new range of Spice Coolpad devices.
In addition, the company also claims that the MI-515 is the first 5-inch smartphone for under Rs 10,000. It is also one of the cheapest quad-core phones you will find in the market. It’s powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor of unspecified make. The display is 5-inches with qHD resolution.

Shipping with Android Jelly Bean (no word on if it’s 4.1 or 4.2), the MI-515 also has 1GB of RAM. Performance should ideally be without hiccups. All this is packed into a body that’s 9.9 mm in depth, so it’s quite a slim device.
Other specifications of the dual-SIM phone are decidedly mid-range. The 5 megapixel camera won’t be competing for many awards, just like the VGA front-facing shooter. The battery is a 2000 mAh Li-ion Polymer unit. Apart from 3G (HSPA+) and Wi-Fi capabilities, there’s Bluetooth 3.0 and all the usual sensors like accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. Spice claims audio output on the MI-515 should be great due to the inclusion of DTS sound technology. Though, again, there are no specifics here.
