I had been just wondering: I’ve been reading through articles and books concerning the Middle East. However cannot exactly look for a proper info on exactly why Lebanon was divided from Syria. I just read that Lebanon was separated from Syria in 1920 by France. The same is true it imply that Lebanon was a part of Syria prior to the partition? Who are able to explain it?

@Jordan: Thanks, however i require a more in depth explanation….

@Alien: I realize your explanation clearly, however you will find still many question marks i believe! I’m nowadays reading through books around the history of what’s now known as “Levantine region”, mainly focusing on Syria and Lebanon. But based on the information I receive, Lebanon was a part of Syria up to 20′s after which France required control and divided Lebanon off Syria. As strange because it is, the data i just read on the web is either not giving me enough information about how and why it happened, or even the information you’ve given. I’m not exactly sure things to depend on any longer. But thank you for making the effort to reply to my question, dear. Greatly appreciated.
