Learn Mapping with Google with this online course

Google wants you to be able to make optimum use of its mapping technology. In order to help you create and share custom maps using its technology, Google has started an online course called Mapping with Google.

The course will be offered for two weeks between June 10 and June 24, but is supposed to be a “self-paced, online course developed to help you better navigate the world” by getting you to improve your use of the new Google Maps, Maps Engine Lite and Google Earth. As a bonus token, everyone who signs up for this course will receive an invitation to preview the new Google Maps.

An online course to teach you Mapping with Google

The course will feature video and text lessons, activities and projects to teach participants the nuances of custom creation of maps and sharing them. “You’ll learn to do much more than look up directions or find your house from outer space,” wrote Tina Ornduff, Program Manager at Google Maps, in a blog post announcing the course. “Tell a story of your favorite locations with rich 3D imagery, or plot sights to see on your upcoming trip and share with your travel buddies.”

Google will be offering lectures by experts and a chance to collaborate with participants from all around the world via Google+ Hangouts and a course forum. You can choose between exploring the features of Google Maps, Google Earth or both. You will also have the option of completing a project and applying the skills you’ve learnt in order to earn a certificate.

When you try to sign up for the course, Google will ask you some basic questions, the first of which is mandatory.

  • What goal do you hope to achieve by signing up for this course?
  • How have you used Google Maps in the past?
  • How have you used Google Earth in the past?

The first question is compulsory for all aspiring candidates. The Google Maps course will be taught by Google Maps Product Managers Daniel Demetri and Beth Liebert and the Google Earth one will be taught by Peter Birch.

If you’re excited already, you can sign up for the course by logging on to g.co/mappingcourse.

Travel- we’re coming by Eurostar and remaining within the Champs Elysees area. May be the metro easy to determine? are you able to buy tickets at machines or online before we visit avoid explaning to staff what we should want (again, I’m awful at French). It stated a 40 minute walk, Could it be simple to navigate around paris when walking? I’ve google planned it but all of the sreet names look confusing.

we’re only there a couple of days (1 evening) can there be whatever you would say is essential do while there? I’ve come across a bus tour company that forestalls in the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dam along with a couple of more and you may hop off and on all day long, so may do that as time is restricted. I’d like to go to Moulan Rouge if at all possible.

My Mother keeps saying I have to perform the “Paris by evening” trip, however i cant appear to locate this anywhere, will it exist? (she saw a leaflet for this while doing one out of Rome!)
