Instagram promises to tackle spam

If you’re on Instagram, chances are that you have been ridiculed by spam that is increasingly finding its way into the popular photo-sharing app. Good news is that Instagram knows about it and is already towards fixing it.

Alongside an image of the canned meat food brand by the same name (Spam), Instagram writes, “Hi Instagrammers! We’ve appreciated all of your feedback on spam comments, and we want you to know we’re working hard on this to make sure spam doesn’t take away from your Instagram experience. There’s no quick fix, but we have a team of engineers working every day to tackle the issue and we hope you’ll notice their improvements.”

In fact, users have even been urged to delete and report comments to them. “If you do see spam, please delete and report the comments to us, or visit that user’s profile, tap the button in the top right corner and select ‘Report for Spam’. Thanks for helping to keep the Instagram community a great experience for everyone!,” it shared further.

In another Instagram related news, it was reported just this morning that Instagram images disappeared from Twitter as the developers of Instagram have turned off support for the micro-blogging site.

As per a blog post by Twitter, the micro blogging site states, “Instagram has disabled photo integration with Twitter. As a result, photos are no longer appearing in Tweets or user photo galleries. While tweeting links to Instagram photos is still possible, you can no longer view the photos on Twitter, as was previously the case.”

This new development took place over the last couple of days and when one went to view their images that had been uploaded on Twitter via Instagram, all they found was a link back to Instagram’s website. Instead of finding an image, users now see a white space where their photos previously appeared.

It was reported last week that the Instagram versus Twitter tussle has reached new heights, with Instagram disabling a feature that’s left their images on Twitter not showing up properly.

This had prompted Twitter to put up a post stating, “Users are experiencing issues with viewing Instagram photos on Twitter. Issues include cropped images. This is due to Instagram disabling its Twitter cards integration, and as a result, photos are being displayed using a pre-cards experience. So, when users click on Tweets with an Instagram link, photos appear cropped.”

Instagram Chief Executive Kevin Systrom mentioned at the Le Web conference in Paris that Instagram’s relationship with Twitter is undergoing a change, but the service will remain integrated with Twitter in some form or the other. The main focus behind this move seems to be to push users to view images on Instagram’s own website.

“Really it’s about where do you go to consume that image, to interact with that image. We want that to be on Instagram,” said Systrom said at the conference. “What we realized over time is we really needed to have an awesome Web presence.”

I discovered the 5-people-and-a-dog-on-the-beach photo is really a jpeg, 1020 x 520 pixels at 72 dpi. Basically don’t hear different, I’ll try that.

    TIA

  5. I transformed my cover photo a lot of occasions between pictures however i his all of the little “so n’ so has transformed their cover photo” updates. However, my pal explained that the updates still were public on everyone’s news feed, bombarding my buddies. I am using timeline, so how do you hide all of the notices from EVERYONE’s newsfeed? I am unable to find anything within the privacy section to alter the configurations. I temporarily deactivated my account so nobody often see it. Help!

Used to do click “Hide from Timeline” however it still seems on my small friend’s new feed. Additionally, it states within the Facebook help center the “Hide from Timeline” button won’t take it out of others’ timelines.
