Updates Of Archos

The Archos 101 XS Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update has started rolling out a few days ago. If you are one of the few owners of this tablet and still haven’t received notifications about the update, it is advisable you run a manual check because some users already reported they have downloaded the update and upgraded their system successfully, that is if you want to leave the comfort of using Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Archos 101 XS has been released just a few months ago and it seems like the manufacturer has taken interest in making this tablet among the few Jelly Bean-powered slates this year. It’s not 4.2 but having developed Jelly Bean firmware in a few months’ time is an effort worth-noting. Archos may not be as big a company as Sony but it’s good to know it cares more about its small pool of patrons by releasing updates sooner than expected.

The ICS-to-JB update is always huge considering hundreds of bug fixes and new features are packed into one package for download. It may take about 30 minutes to download the install the Jelly Bean update for Archos 101 XS tablet so it is advisable to check the internet connection before taking a step to updating the device.

Multi-media Category Of Archos

Archos was trying to make 101 XS competitive in multi-media category as well as making it look more like a netbook than a tablet with its keyboard dock. So aside from native Jelly Bean features and goodies, the update for this device focuses on making videos and audios better than before.

“Major upgrade with simplified video information retrieval and media indexing, new network shares infrastructure,” according to the change log posted on Archos’ website.

The update has started rolling out over the air so owners from anywhere in the world should be getting notifications telling them there’s a new firmware available for download. It is not advisable to interrupt the update process as it may lead to your device being bricked.

I upgraded my apple iphone 4 to the new ios 4.1 and my baseband is 2.10.04. I just read from forums this particular baseband prevents unleashing from the phone.

I’ve found that very strange because My home is Australia and I am using the mobile company 3 and I have known as these to unlock my phone before after i was still being on the new ios 4..1. So since i have upgraded my firmware does which means that my unlocked phone is relocked?

And if I am likely to jailbreak my apple iphone does that prevent me from ‘unlocking’ my phone if it is really locked?
